Building Information Modeling creates and manages a digital representation of a physical structure such as buildings, utilities, roads, ports and tunnels.

Description

Evergreen Valley College in San José, CA offers certification through our Building Information Modeling Department.

  • The Certificate of Achievement in Building Information Modeling (BIM) offers students the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to be BIM Specialists and consultants in the construction industry in both the public and private sectors. This program will acquaint students with the various BIM software and technologies that are being used throughout the construction industry. Click here for more information on course requirements.


Prerequisites and Required Assessments

There are no prerequisites for enrolling in the BIM programs. Even though a high school diploma or equivalency is not required, you may find that some employers prefer to hire employees with a high school diploma or equivalency. There are also more options for financial aid at the community colleges for students who have a high school diploma or equivalency.

You must take a placement test to enroll in math and English classes for the general education requirements needed to earn an associate degree. You should meet with a counselor to determine the correct placement in these classes.
