Studying Construction Technology prepares students for entry into the construction trades, which require both technical skills and understanding of the construction process.

Description

San José City College in San José, CA offers certification and an associate degree through our Construction Technology Department and a apprenticeship programs.

  • Associate of Science in Construction Technology prepare students for entry into the construction trades, which require a technical skill and understanding of construction processes. The program is designed for immediate employment, upgrading of job skills, and potential opportunities for career self-employment. Courses can be transferable to four-year institutions. Students planning on transferring to a four-year institution should review major sheet for an Associate in Arts in Construction Technology. Click here for more information on course requirements.

 

Prerequisites and Required Assessments

In order to apply for the Ironworker Apprenticeship program , you must have these minimum qualifications:

There are no prerequisites for enrolling in the other construction technology programs. Even though a high school diploma or equivalency is not required, you may find that some employers prefer to hire employees with a high school diploma or equivalency. There are also more options for financial aid at the community colleges for students who have a high school diploma or equivalency.

You must take a placement test to enroll in math and English classes for the general education requirements needed to earn an associate degree. You should meet with a counselor to determine the correct placement in these classes.
