Evergreen Valley College in San José, CA offers several associate degrees in Administration of Justice through our Administration of Justice program.

  • Associate of Arts in Administration of Justice is intended to academically prepare students for the skills necessary to work in the criminal justice field, in both public and private sectors. The program focuses on development of essential program dimensions of effective communication, critical inquiry, information literacy, social and cultural awareness, and ethical intelligence.   • Associate of Science for Transfer in Administration of Justice prepare students for the skills necessary to work in the criminal justice field, in both public and private sectors. The Administration of Justice degree is ideally suited for students who desire to transfer to a four-year institution to continue academic endeavors or to enter the workforce.   • Associate of Science for Transfer (AS-T) in Administration of Justice is designed to provide a clear pathway to a CSU institution for students who plan to transfer and complete a CSU major or baccalaureate degree in Administration of Justice. California Community College students who are awarded an Associate in Science in Administration of Justice for Transfer (AS-T in Administration of Justice) are guaranteed admission with junior standing somewhere in the CSU system and given priority admission consideration to their local CSU institution or to a program that is deemed similar to their community college major.   • Associate of Arts in Administration of Justice is the study of the causes, consequences and control of crime. Although the program’s curriculum allows for the development of in-depth knowledge in one of the subject’s substantive subsystems (i.e. law enforcement, juvenile, courts or corrections, judicial administration). West Valley College in Saratoga, CA offers associate degrees in Administrative of Justice through our Administration of Justice program.

  • Associate of Science in Administration of Justice prepares students for a career in criminal justice. Career opportunities in Criminal Justice generally can be categorized into five major fields: Law Enforcement; the Courts; Corrections, Forensic Science; and Private Security. In these career fields, criminal justice professionals prevent and control crime, shield the public from harm, provide detention and rehabilitation services, and finally, ensure equal justice for all citizens through the judicial system.   • Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) in the Administration of Justice is intended for students who plan to transfer and complete a bachelor’s degree in a similar major at a CSU campus. Students completing this transfer degree: 1. will earn an Associate’s Degree from West Valley College; 2. are guaranteed admission to a campus in the CSU system; 3. will be prepared to start upper division coursework at the CSU and not need to complete more than 60 units after transfer. Prerequisites and Required Assessments

There are no prerequisites for enrolling in the administration of justice programs. Even though a high school diploma or equivalency is not required, you may find that some employers prefer to hire employees with a high school diploma or equivalency. There are also more options for financial aid at the community colleges for students who have a high school diploma or equivalency.

You must take a placement test to enroll in Math and English classes for the General Education requirements needed to earn an associate degree. You should meet with a counselor to determine the correct placement in these classes.
